Bolivia – Flamengo suffered its first defeat of the season after being defeated 2-1 by Bolívar, in La Paz. Commenting on the result, defender Fabrício Bruno addressed the difficulty of playing at 3,600 m above sea level, admitting that he was lacking aggressiveness towards the Cariocas and denied that the result would be catastrophic for Rubro-Negro in the group stage of the Libertadores.

“We knew it was a difficult game, against a rival who knows how to use the field command factor, the attitude. I think we needed to attack a little more. However, there is no scorched earth, we still have three more games and full possibility of seek results,” he said.

With a team full of reserves, Flamengo suffered its first defeat in 2024. In La Paz, Rubro-Negro was defeated 2-1 by Bolívar. The highlights of the match were Brazilians Chico da Costa and Bruno Sávio, who play for the Bolivian club, and scored the goals for the home team. Matías Viña scored the visitors’ only goal in the match. With the result, the Rio club parked with four points and is in second place in Group E of the Libertadores. The Bolivians lead the group with 9 points.

This Sunday, Flamengo returns to the pitch for the Brazilian Championship against Botafogo, at 11 am (Brasília time), at Maracanã. For the Libertadores, Rubro-Negro will go to Chile to face Palestino, on the 7th, at 9 pm (Brasília time). Bolívar will play the following day against Millonarios, in Bogotá, at 11 pm (Brasília time).
