São Francisco de Itabapoana – Available in 15 different locations in the municipality, flu vaccination is expanded to the entire population from six months of age in São Francisco de Itabapoana. The municipal government follows the recommendation of the Ministry of Health.
The initiative aims to help reduce outpatient care and hospitalizations during the autumn and winter months. The ministry explains that, “during these periods, respiratory diseases are more frequent and people spend more time in closed, confined environments, with little or no natural ventilation, facilitating contagion.”
Responsible for producing the vaccine made available by the Unified Health System (SUS), the Butantan Institute informs that the dose protects against the three most prevalent types of flu viruses, as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In the assessment of the coordinator of the municipality’s Immunization Sector, Cristiano de Souza, the mobilization of each resident will be crucial to expanding vaccination coverage: “To receive the vaccine, simply go to the nearest vaccination point, carrying the Vaccination Booklet and the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF)”, he advises.
Open from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm, the vaccination points are located in Amontado; Barra do Itabapoana. Bar Crossing; Good place; João Pessoa Square; Guaxindiba; Gargaú; Imburi; Buena; Water drop; Santa Clara, Nova Belém, Estreito, Floresta.
According to the Department of Health, through the government’s Communications Office (Ascom), in the central region of the municipality, the Germano Barros Delgado Family Clinic houses the Municipal Immunization Center (CMI) during the renovation and expansion works of the Manoel Carola Municipal Hospital (HMMC).
