Rio – Fluminense will have something new for the duel with Cerro Porteño, this Thursday (25), in the Libertadores. The new white uniform, launched last March, will be used for the first time in the match against the Paraguayan team. The model has diagonal green and maroon stripes and is a reissue of the shirt used in the first decade of the 20th century.

The debut was announced by Fluminense himself. The last time the Laranjeiras club had a shirt with diagonal stripes was in 2009. Interestingly, that year, Tricolor defeated the same Cerro Porteño, in Paraguay, 1-0, using the white shirt, which in that edition year also made reference to the uniform with a diagonal stripe. In the return match, entering the field with their number 1 shirt, Flu advanced to the final of the South American Championship by beating the Paraguayan team 2-1, in a game that was marked by great confusion at the end.

Fluminense is the leader of Group A, with four points, and, if they beat Cerro Porteño this Thursday, they will be three ahead of Colo-Colo, second place, who already entered the field in the round and played out a goalless draw with Alianza Lima, at home.
