Teams from the Japeri Municipal Hospital (HMJ) participated in the ‘Clinical Management of Psychiatric Patients in Urgency and Emergency’ training. The action, promoted by the city hall, through the Municipal Health Department (Semus), was due to the implementation of four psychiatric beds in the unit.
The training was carried out on Thursday (18/04), in two stages, with a total of 16 hours and covering all teams on duty. The objective was to prepare the teams to approach this public, establishing the beginning of clinical treatment, risk classification, prioritization of care according to urgency, the need for referral to the health network and, also, the assessment of hospitalization in the hospital. hospital unit.
According to the unit’s general director, Alex Bousquet, the opening of psychiatric beds at the Japeri Municipal Hospital complies with current legislation that deals with psychiatric patients and the closure of all sanatoriums. “As psychiatric patients have very peculiar characteristics, training our professionals is extremely important. Also consider that the number of diagnoses of psychiatric illnesses has been increasing after the Covid-19 pandemic, and the HMJ, which already has a psychiatrist, now also has a team that is better prepared to receive these patients, even making beds available ”, said the manager.
The psychiatrist at the Centro de Atenção Psicossocial II Jorge Tannus Rejame (CAPS), Carlos Augusto, trained the teams and highlighted that improving techniques and management is, first and foremost, knowing how to treat the patient, refining the risk classification and having always with a focus on attention to detail. “As health professionals, we move away from the common sense of calling patients with mental health pathologies crazy. We further activate our sensitivities to respect routines, vulnerabilities, grief or situations that arise during care”, reported the doctor.
According to the Undersecretary of Health Care, Tatiana Soares, the training also has the specificity that the network patient, upon arriving at the hospital and receiving care appropriate to their particularities, is referred for continued mental health treatment in the network.
“We are refining our protocols and the patient who arrives here for emergency care will also have to fill out the Notifiable Diseases Information System (Sinan) form, which monitors the surveillance of interpersonal and self-inflicted violence, served in the city by the Program Long live Japeri. All efforts are being made to ensure that mental health is in line with other services, in a humanized and complete way,” he said.
