Jimmy Lozano’s Mexican team faces a great challenge: the Copa América 2024 that will be played in the United States this summer. Although it was not under his command, the failure in the World Cup in Qatar still weighs and the expected renewal of the squad arrived: Guillermo Ochoa is not on the previous list of those called up for this competition.
But the loss of the World Cup goalkeeper is only the beginning, Jesús Gallardo, Raúl Jiménez and Hirving Lozano are also not there, the latter two have been criticized for their performance for a couple of years. Who are Mexico’s rivals in the Copa América 2024?
The most recent failure, the runner-up in the Nations League against the United States, was a hard blow for Lozano’s management and although there is a belief that the Copa América could mark a turning point on the bench, Davino said that they are not thinking about alternatives because the validity of Jimmy’s contract runs until the last game of the 2026 World Cup.
