Authoritarianism has increased in this past month, stripping workers of their savings, avoiding the suspensive action of the right of protection so that they cannot protect themselves, and allowing all excesses in administrative tasks, and granting themselves the right to amnesty without rules, nor causes, just the simple judgment of whether a convicted or accused person has contributed with his or her statements to the country’s causes, under the discretion of the Executive itself.

But the voices of mothers are raised and heard throughout the country. This circle of impunity that neither solves the problem nor adequately addresses it must be avoided. There are many mistakes to correct.
Murders and femicides continue to rise. Hugs too. It is a mistake not to have a public and national security policy that allows us to resolve the impunity with which criminals act, instead of dedicating the Armed Forces to being improvised builders of useless works. No one is safe from the collection of property rights, from kidnapping, from the destruction of businesses, from the fact that their daughters, sisters, friends may not return alive from their work or recreation. It is a serious mistake not to have combated organized crime that advances in more than 25 percent of the territory. It no longer belongs to us and that must be corrected.
The fact that they had not acted in accordance with the law in punishing those responsible for the collapse of Line 12, the Rébsamen School, or the money that Carlos Ahumada gave to Claudia Scheinbaum’s ex-husband, does not imply that they are closed cases, or that pointing them out implies their politicization. . The poll war points to Claudia as the winner, but with less and less advantage. The 2021 electoral trend, on the contrary, indicates that Morena lost to the opposition, although the Citizen Movement gave it the majority in Congress. Measuring public opinion has revealed that there is a strong hidden vote, not revealed to the pollsters, for various reasons, which we will know on June 2, and can define the triumph of one project or another. That is why it is a mistake to think that surveys are premonitory, since they only reflect what a part of public opinion thinks at a moment.
The results vary and there are several that show a tie. The truth is that it will be a closed vote. There are errors in the surveys, in their methodology, their application, their sampling, in the deviation of don’t know or did not answer. They are the only instrument we have to approach majority public opinion. Electoral trends can also reflect a moment, and are another way of approaching the voter. These errors are difficult to correct. But free and responsible voting does not need any correction.
The most important thing, regardless of which of the women wins, is the project they represent: democracy or authoritarianism. Humanism or indifference. Driving or corruption. Security or complicity. Development or regression. Freedom or censorship. Life or death. Truth or lies. Speech or demagogy. These errors can be corrected with our vote.
Electing federal legislators is another important point for governance. Who will have a majority to approve laws and decrees? Decide taxes, public spending, public policy orientation. Will there be a qualified majority to reform the Constitution? This would imply a profound change to strengthen autocracy, impunity and destroy institutions and freedoms. It will be another country. That error cannot be corrected either. But it can be avoided if we all go out and vote to advance in a plural and democratic system of government, with balance and citizen participation.
It is unlikely that Morena and its allies will win all the governorships. Mexico City is in open rebellion, as is Veracruz. In Morelos there is repudiation of the current government. Guanajuato and Jalisco seem not to change their course. Neither does Yucatan. In Puebla the election is closed. In Chiapas fear dominates and in Tabasco everything is moving towards a victory for Morena. So nothing is decided yet. The main actor is the citizen, not the parties or the candidates.
I invite you not to make mistakes, because repenting changes nothing. Avoiding them is the best decision. If you already know what we face and suffer in this six-year term, why persevere in error? Let’s be reasonable, thoughtful and value what is best for all of us, for your children. We are going to correct the past and embark on a new path of inclusion, peace, development, freedoms and justice.
