Volta Redonda – A 33-year-old man, accused of theft by fraud, was arrested red-handed inside a bank branch in the Aterrado neighborhood, in Volta Redonda, by civil police officers from the 93rd Police Station (Volta Redonda), this Saturday morning (27) . According to information from the Civil Police, the man is from São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, and worked together with another accomplice, who was not located, but has already been identified by the police authorities.
The arrest occurred after monitoring the vehicle used by the criminals to commit crimes in the city. According to information from the Civil Police, the car, a gray Honda City, license plate PJL9F50, would have been used in four other robberies at bank branches registered in the 93rd DP (Volta Redonda).
The criminals maintained a pattern of activity in the city, always on weekends and holidays, remaining around four hours in the city, just to commit the crimes. The Cidade Monitorada system, maintained by the city of Volta Redonda, through the municipal secretariat of Public Order, detected the vehicle’s entry into the municipality at 9 am, and the car began to be monitored by police teams.
At around 11:30 am, an 80-year-old woman came to the headquarters of the 93rd DP, reporting that she had been the victim of a robbery inside a bank branch in Vila Santa Cecília by two men who, at the time, offered her help at the ATMs. Shortly afterwards, the victim realized that R$3,500 had been withdrawn from her account.
Based on the data collected and monitoring, the agents arrested the suspect, at around 11:40 am, as he entered the vehicle in the Aterrado neighborhood, close to a bank branch. The accomplice, already identified, was not located.
The prisoner will be taken to the penitentiary system, where he will remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.
