At least 310 bodies were exhumed from mass graves as of this Tuesday, 23rd, in the courtyards of the Nasser hospital, in Khan Younis, in the south of Gaza, from where Israeli troops withdrew at the beginning of April, after four months of fighting. in the area. The UN demanded an international investigation into the graves and denounced the “reigning climate of impunity”.

On Monday, the 22nd, the Civil Protection of the Gaza Strip had indicated that since Saturday, the 20th, around 200 bodies had been exhumed that had been buried by Israeli forces in mass graves at the Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis.

The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights declared itself “horrified” by the destruction of Gaza’s two main hospitals. The High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, demanded “independent, effective and transparent investigations” into what happened.

“Given the prevailing climate of impunity, international investigators must participate in this process,” he said.

According to Palestinian sources, most of the bodies are children and women, civilians from Gaza killed when Israeli troops took over the region, and who were buried “collectively” during the siege.

“The victims were buried very deep in the ground and covered in rubbish,” Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, told journalists, adding that the victims included elderly people and women. Others were “found with their hands tied and without clothes,” she added.
