Morena refines the reform with Segob, ISSSTE, IMSS and Infonavit – El Financiero

The Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde, and the heads of the ISSSTE, IMSS and Infonavit privately refined, with the parliamentary groups of Morena, PT and PVEM, in the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro the reform initiative proposed the creation of the Pension Fund for Wellbeing.

The Morenoist bench reported that the head of Segob asked the legislators to “move forward with the necessary legal framework so that workers’ retirement can be one hundred percent, and not allow the opposition to limit the right to a decent pension for Mexicans.”

The coordinator of the Morena deputies, Ignacio Mier, He declared that as a transformation movement they will seek to ensure that the retirement of workers is dignified and fair, and said that they could not allow themselves to remain with their hands folded and silent.

In addition, he stated that “there is defamation” about his proposal, but he assured “the active accounts of the workers are not touched or put at risk,” and considered that it is a complementary, sensitive fund, in solidarity with the little more than 45 million Mexican workers who are under the 1997 regime, which had condemned them to precarious pensions.

He recalled when in 2002 the then president Vicente Fox had 20 billion pesos of workers’ money, but, he criticized, that the PAN member gave it a different use with the support of the majority that dominated in the Senate and, he highlighted, that this Pension Fund for Wellbeing It is characterized by being noble, generous and supportive of workers.

“On December 13, 2002, an initiative was presented by Vicente Fox, at that time President of the Republic, in which he requested the Chamber of Senators, as the Chamber of origin, to make use of more than 20 thousand millions of pesos of inactive accounts, adhering to what is established in 302 of the Social Security Law. And he provided, not for the benefit of the workers, not for a solidarity fund to complement pensions, but to create an institution; “He had 20 billion pesos of the workers’ money and put it to another use,” Mier said.

The Puebla politician indicated that in less than two weeks this proposal was approved and published in a decree, with the vote in favor of the PAN, the PRI and some of the PRDthus taking money from the workers to maintain the government’s financial balance.

In that sense, the deputy explained that it is time to join the work carried out by social security institutions, whose philosophy is based on Mexican humanism.

The opinion of the reform that creates the Pension Fund for Wellbeing will be discussed and voted on in the plenary session of deputies this Wednesday, April 17.
