The Federal Police (PF) signed an agreement, this Friday, the 26th, with the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (National Crime Agency) with the aim of improving international police cooperation between the two institutions. The Letter of Intent provides for the fight against organized crime between countries, cybercrime, corruption, human trafficking, drugs and firearms, as well as situations similar to slavery and money laundering.
The agreement, signed by the director general of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, and the director general of the British organization, Graeme Biggar, at the agency’s headquarters in London, establishes the exchange of information between the police, coordinated activities, training and exchange of agents . Also present at the meeting that celebrated the cooperation was the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski.
The previous day, the 25th, the Brazilian director met with the general commissioner of the oldest police institution in the United Kingdom, the City of London Police, Peter O’Doherty. The organization investigates fraud, economic and cyber crimes, and the meeting dealt with the exchange of police officers in areas relevant to the institutions of both countries. According to the PF, activities do not create financial obligations for governments, being subject to the availability of resources.
The PF attaché at the Brazilian Embassy in London, representative of the corporation in the country, William Murad, and the deputy attaché, André Vale de Salles Andrade, participated in the events encouraged by the International Cooperation Directorate, created last year by the PF to strengthen joint actions between international police forces.
