President of a Serie A club doesn’t want the Brasileirão to stop: ‘Are we left crying, suffering?’

Goiânia – The president of Atlético-GO, Adson Batista, was against a possible stoppage of the Brazilian Championship. The topic was on the agenda because of the damage caused by rain in Rio Grande do Sul. In an interview with “Globo Esporte”, the president said that “a big problem does not justify creating another big problem”.
“First, I want to declare that it is a catastrophe and we are all very sorry, our Brazilian brothers, for what they are going through. But, in my opinion, a big problem does not justify creating another big problem, because the country is continental. We We have 20 clubs in Series A. Then 17 will have to be sacrificed? Isn’t that necessary? We need these 17 to continue doing good things in their games, preserving the three clubs from Rio Grande do Sul in this difficult time”, said Adson.
“Afterwards, the CBF will continue to take care of this, with the possibility of the CBF even trying to offer its structure to help these clubs. I think it is no solution to stop the championship. Stop why? So we can stay here suffering, crying? There is no point. Otherwise we will going through the same problems as during Covid-19. An emerging team like Atlético-GO doesn’t have the structure to play a championship at a good level thinking that way”, he added.
Earlier, the CBF decided that it will not stop the Brazilian Championship. Furthermore, he informed that games involving teams from Rio Grande do Sul in all national tournaments are postponed due to the damage caused by rain in Rio Grande do Sul. The measure is valid for the next 20 days – until the end of May, therefore.
