Ranchers throw cattle carcasses to demand support for drought in Chihuahua – El Financiero

In an unusual protest, dozens of producers dumped cattle carcasses in front of the facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) to demand support to face the severe drought that plagues the Chihuahuan territory.

Members of the Democratic Peasant Union (UCD) They demanded to restore programs eliminated by the Federal Government such as the National Fund for Natural Disasters (Fonden) and that their requests be attended to to face the effects of the dry season and the lack of rain, since this year the forecasts are not at all encouraging for the entity’s countryside.

Small farmers and ranchers from various regions affected by the lack of rain gathered in front of the SADER offices to carry out this protest, in which they placed several corpses of cattle that had died due to the adverse weather conditions that have been affecting the Chihuahuan agricultural sector for some time now. Several months.

In addition, The producers closed circulation on Zarco Avenuein front of the offices of the SADER delegation in this capital, so elements of the road police had to arrive to avoid traffic congestion.

The peasant mobilization It was handled in a peaceful environment waiting for the authorities of the three levels of government, especially the federal one, to begin to support them to avoid the collapse of their primary activities.

The members of the UCD urged President López Obrador to establish actions to support them in this delicate situation, since they are frustrated at receiving denials of their requests for help in the face of the terrible agricultural crisis due to the lack of rain that keep the dams almost empty, the wells depleted and the aquifers collapsed.

The losses recorded by both small farmers and ranchers are very serious, as the producers tried to reflect to the authorities with the ‘shells’ and the skulls of the cattle killed by drought.

In this administration of the Government of the Republic, dozens of programs that served the peasant sector of Mexico were eliminated, among them the National Fund for Natural Disasters, but now there are no government actions that help producers alleviate the effects of the drought, which which puts small farmers and ranchers in the country, especially in Chihuahua, in a desperate situation.
