Rio – Red Bull Racing (RBR) opened an internal investigation against Christian Horner. The head of the Austrian Formula 1 team has been accused of improper conduct, according to information from the Dutch newspaper “Telegraaf”. The reason, however, was not specified. He, however, denies the allegations.
“An independent investigation has been launched. This process is being led by a specialist external lawyer. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as quickly as possible,” said a company spokesperson.
Christian Horner has been team principal at RBR in Formula 1 since 2005. Under the command of the Briton, the Austrian team won six constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ titles (four with Sebastian Vettel and three with Max Verstappen), in addition to 113 victories, 95 pole positions and 264 podiums.
Horner is expected to remain in office amid the investigation. The team leader was advised to give up his duties after the case came to light publicly, but he reportedly refused the idea and reiterated that he is innocent. The outcome of the situation will define the situation.
