Several call for reorganization of Hinsdale school board

HINSDALE, Ill. — Teachers who are part of the Hinsdale High School Teachers Association showed up in force at a meeting Thursday night as several called for a reorganization of the board.

One of them spoke on behalf of educators and voiced a number of frustrations and called for the resignation of the Hinsdale High School Board president.

This comes after Hinsdale South’s principal announced this week he is leaving.

The union president said the level of administrative turnover is unprecedented, with seven acting superintendents in the last 12 months.

The board forced a superintendent on paid administrative while while employing two interims for a total of nearly $600,000.

Two school board members resigned in that time, as well as an assistant superintendent, an interim superintendent, the director of HR and the communications director.

Teachers are also upset the board has required curriculum with little student interest.

Some course have fewer than five students enrolled.

Some parents and teachers feel it’s creating instability in the district.

The school board is supposed to elect officer, including making any changes to its president by the end of April, but there was no item on the agenda to do so.
