The Gazan authorities recovered this Monday 73 corpses more of the mass grave found on Friday at the Naser hospital in Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Stripwhere they have already been exhumed 283 bodiesaccording to the Hamas government in the enclave.
In a statement, authorities said they have only identified 42 of the bodies. Among the corpses are women and elderly people, and some had their hands cuffed and were naked, suggesting they were executed.
“We ask the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to investigate this massacre committed by the occupation Army in the Naser complex and also in the complex Al Shifa“said the Gazan government.
And the episode is reminiscent of what happened at the Al Shifa hospital, the most important in the Strip and located in the north of the enclave, which was completely out of service after an Israeli siege that lasted two weeks at the end of March.
After the departure of Israeli troops from the hospital on April 1, Gazan authorities discovered a mass grave with a dozen buried bodies, among whom there were patients, women and the elderly. In total, about 400 bodies were recovered in and around the hospital in the days after the troops left.
The Israeli Army withdrew from Jan Yunis during the early hours of April 7, after four months of fighting and bombings, which were also directed against residences and the civilian population, in this southern town.
The two main hospitals in the area, the Amal and the naserwere razed and completely inoperative after suffering a siege by Israeli troops, who attacked both centers under the premise that they were hiding alleged militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
The Ministry of Health of the Strip reported this Sunday of the death of 54 more people in Gaza in the last 24 hourswhich brings the total number of deaths in the enclave since the war began to 34,151.
