Adds 17 thousand Six stores in Mexico – El Financiero

It should be remembered that it was in March of 2019 when Oxxoof Mexican Economic Development (FEMSA) announced an agreement for market brands Model group in your refrigeratorsthus ending the exclusivity agreement with Heineken México.

At that time, beer sales represented a fifth of Oxxo’s income, while Heineken moved approximately 25 percent of its volumes in Mexico through the Femsa commercial chain.

For his part, Duverdier shared that in 2023 they opened a thousand stores, a rhythm that could be repeated in 2024. “We have opened around a thousand stores last year, it is a rhythm that can evolve year after year but it seems to us to be a good rhythm for the future.

It is a rhythm that has evolved over the years, we have had 1,200 or 800, and in this opening range it seems good for us to make a simple opening rhythm, choosing the merchants well,” the manager explained.

Between 2019 and 2023 the company went from 13 thousand to 17 thousand storesachieving, according to the company, 13 percent in the convenience store market, branches that are integrating sustainability goals with solar panels.

Regarding the progress of the Mérida plantwhich will be its eighth in Mexico and was announced last September with a budget of 8.7 billion pesos, Claudia de la Vega, director of corporate affairs, pointed out that the legal processes continue, which face an atypical year due to the elections.

”We are just in the process of applying for all the corresponding permits, there are municipal, state and federal permits, and we are complying with the requirements and deadlines of the authority. We would love for us to lay the first stone this year, but we are subject to permits and it is also an atypical year in Mexico and we are following the times that the authority sets for us,” de la Vega said.

Once they get the permits, Construction is expected to take 2 to 3 years.
