Saturday and Sunday should be two particularly disrupted days. According to Meteo France, the weekend will be marked by rain, thunderstorms, stormy winds during the night of Saturday and Sunday as well as the formation of a new episode of heavy rain in the South. The sun will still be present in several places, especially on Sunday.
Saturday: severe bad weather
The weather will get more and more complicated as the day goes on. In the morning, the sky is already overcast in most regions. Only the East and the South-West are exceptions. It rains from New Aquitaine to Burgundy as well as in Occitanie. The wind is blowing at more than 60 km/h in gusts in the South. In the afternoon (map below), conditions deteriorate, rain affects almost the entire country. Corsica and Alsace should be spared. Thunderstorms form in the South-West and move inland towards the north of the country. Some could be locally violent. The wind is strengthening in all regions east of an axis going from the Ardennes to the Gironde. The strongest gusts should affect Occitanie and the Massif Central with 80 km/h to 90 km/h, i.e. a stormy level.
Maximum temperatures in the afternoon will be generally in season or almost. In the north of France they will range from 12°C in Brittany to 18°C in Burgundy. In the South, they will range from 13°C in Savoie to 18°C in Roussillon.
Caution is necessary for those who wish to go out in the evening and at night. Heavy rainfall reaches the Cévennes and Hérault in particular. A new Cévennes episode is taking place. These are significant accumulations of rain over a short period of time which affect areas located around the Mediterranean, in particular the Cévennes area, hence the names Cévennes or Mediterranean episode. Since the end of winter, they follow each other regularly. This is an extremely rare situation since this type of phenomenon generally occurs in the fall.
Potentially violent storms are heading towards the center and north of the country. The wind continues to blow at 90 km/h in the Massif Central and almost as strong in Occitanie. It weakened at the end of the night as it reached the northern regions of France.
Sunday: best in the north and west
The situation is improving in the north and west of the country, which are experiencing a calmer day than the day before. The sun and clearings should take over, even if a few showers remain possible, especially in the morning. In the north, the wind will continue to blow at around fifty kilometers per hour in gusts.
In the East, the South-East and the South, the situation remains complicated. Precipitation continues, often intensely and sometimes with thunderstorms. The Mediterranean episode continues and is concentrated in the Cévennes sector.
Maximum temperatures are similar to Saturday and remain seasonal. They range from 13°C to 18°C in the North and are of the same order in the South.
Start of the week: rain and rain
The first days of next week should follow a similar trend to the weekend. They should be very rainy. Corsica, Brittany, Alsace and Pays de la Loire would be partly spared. Water would continue to accumulate around the Mediterranean. More generally, the whole week should be very wet.
