Katya Somohano is the new director of Iberdrola México: She will seek to focus on clean energies

Katya Somohano Silva This Thursday he assumed his new position as CEO of Iberdrola Mexico, where its main objective will be to develop projects of clean energy in the country.

“We begin a new phase in the country with the aim of supporting the industry in its goals of decarbonization and of emissions reduction. We want to grow hand in hand with our clients and suppliers, betting on national content, the creation of quality jobs and win-win in the communities where we have a presence,” said the director.

Despite Iberdrola México sold 13 electric power generation plants to a Mexican fund, the company still has a portfolio of renewable projects distributed in several states of the country.

“We will maintain our operational excellence, we will execute the company’s renewable growth plan. We reaffirm our commitment to Mexico and with the objective of building, together, a more sustainable and green future,” Somohano highlighted.

Ignacio Galanpresident of Iberdrola Grouppointed out that after an excellent career inside and outside of Iberdrola México, Katya Somohano assumed the direction of the company at the head of a young and diverse, but very experienced team.

“I am sure that, under his leadership, in this new stage Iberdrola México will continue to invest, create more jobs and provide the best service to Mexicans.”

Katya Somohano is originally from Mexico City. She has a degree in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has a master’s degree in Law from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

In 2018 he completed the Senior Management program at the Pan American Institute of Senior Business Management (IPADE) and completed the Innovation Program at the Business School of the Harvard University.

Somohano replaced Enrique Alba after 12 years leading the growth and development of Iberdrola México.
