Rio – The 2020s haven’t even reached the halfway point yet and Vasco has already accumulated several coach changes. Ramón Díaz’s replacement, who left the club after the defeat suffered by Criciúmalast Saturday (27), in São Januário, will be Cruz-Maltino’s 10th coach since 2021when the period began.
Before Ramón, Vasco was also led this decade by Maurício Barbieri, Jorginho, Maurício Souza, Zé Ricardo, Fernando Diniz, Lisca, Marcelo Cabo and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Of all these names, the Argentine was the one who spent the longest time in the position, with 43 games played in 287 days. Interims were not considered.
Ramón Díaz was Vasco’s third coach since the beginning of the SAF Era. Before him, Jorginho led the team in the final stretch of the 2022 Series B and Barbieri was responsible for starting the season last year.
Controversial exit
Ramón Díaz left Vasco in a Version war between the parties over the output. The club released a statement informing the departure a few minutes after the match and claims he resigned in the locker room. However, the Argentine coach and his son, Emiliano, said at a press conference that they found out about the change through Cruz-Maltino’s statement on social media.
After the arrival of Pedro Martins, new executive director, Vasco began work to find Ramón’s replacement. The manager has already outlined the profile of the professional he wants to hire.
