A main road has been closed while four fire engines tackle a blaze at a derelict building.
The emergency services were called to Valley Drive, Gravesend, at about 3.15am and remain on the scene.
Those living or working in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke coming from the fire.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Four fire engines are at the scene and crews continue to make good progress.
“Valley Drive road has also been closed and people are advised to avoid the area.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus are working to extinguish a fire.”
People are being urged to share the smoke warning with any loved ones in the affected area who might not have access to the internet.
Police have been contacted for further information.
