The events occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m., when Linda Padilla was taking a tour in the Colonia Las Águilas, on the border with Juárez. So far no injured people are reported.
“We were on a tour of a colony doing an act of proselytizing. “We were a little further down the block when the explosions were heard,” said the mayoral candidate in an interview with local media.
Heading towards elections next June 2Linda Padilla explained that it was a direct attack against one of the vans in which she and her team travel to attend their campaign events.
“Fortunately there was no one in the truck, everyone was up ahead putting up tarps, knocking on doors, thank God, no one was hurt,” commented the candidate.
Municipal police, National Guard personnel and ministerial agents went to the scene and cordoned off the area to carry out the corresponding investigations.
After the attack, Linda Padilla pointed out that they had to suspend the tour and announced that she is considering withdrawing from the candidacy for fear of the crisis of violence in the entity.
“I had not seen it necessary (to ask for security),” she commented, “now I don’t know whether to withdraw from the candidacy or whether to stay to continue but safely,” said the candidate in an interview for El Norte.
On April 2, the Secretary of Citizen SecurityRosa Icela Rodríguezdetailed that in total there are 108 protection requests for the candidates, of which 86 have already been treated, 12 are in risk analysis and 10 were declined.
